The Cambridgeshire S-Tech Women & Girls’ League has been named the FA Eastern Region Charter Standard League of the Year by The FA and their Community Partner, McDonald’s.
The league has been recognised for their commitment to grassroots football at a regional level after being judged by a panel of Regional FA and McDonald’s representatives and will now go on to represent the region in the national awards with their nomination put forward to the national judging panel including the likes of 1966 World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst and The FA’s Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking.
National winners will be announced at The FA Community Awards Ceremony, presented by McDonald’s which will be held at this year’s FA Community Shield tie between Manchester City and Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in August.
League Secretary Chris Abbott said, “The League are delighted to receive this prestigious award. It is testament to the hardworking volunteers that the league is successful and this award is for them all.”
Cambridgeshire FA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Pringle echoed, “We would like to congratulate the Cambridgeshire S-Tech Women’s and Girls’ League on this award. The league works hard to meet the needs of the participating clubs. The league thoroughly deserves the recognition.”
