Listed & Unusual Construction
Properties which are constructed of anything other than solid brick or stone, with a slate or tile roof may need special underwriting consideration, particularly if they are listed or graded.
Types of non-standard properties include:-
- Clunch/Limestone
- Timber Frame
- Lath and Plaster or Wattle and Daub
- Thatched Properties
- Barn Conversions
It is especially important to get the cover right for these types of risks, as under-insurance can lead to reduced claims settlements. This is important when dealing with period and listed properties where you are required to reinstate the property back to the same standards, using appropriate materials, in the event of a claim.
Whilst the majority of our business is placed through mainstream Insurers we do, on occasion, use a limited number of specialist facilities for the more unusual properties.
