Income Drawdown
The financial decisions you make at retirement are likely to be amongst the most important you will ever make. The opportunity for adding to your pensions and capital in the future will be limited and what you do have in place will need to support you and any dependents for the rest of your lives.
S-Tech provide independent advice on the following:-
Annuities
An annuity is the income you will receive from your pension in retirement. This includes 'Ill Health', With Profit and Investment Link Products.
Income Drawdown
Here your pension remains fully invested and you 'draw down' a lump sum or an income from it. This option generally carries higher investment risks and is not recommended for pensions valued at perhaps less than £100,000. This can depend on individual circumstances and in all cases independent financial advice is recommended.
New 'Third Way' Retirement Option
Most clients approaching retirement are looking for the perfect solution, guaranteed income for life, no worries about the effects of falling investment values; and on death after retirement to have the surplus fund protected for the surviving members of the family.
Neither of the above two options (annuity or income drawdown) can individually provide this solution but the financial services industry is trying hard to meet the current demands of the retiring population.
The new 'Third Way' products can offer the flexibility to provide a guaranteed income, protect investments again stock market down turns and still offer the facility for the surviving members of the family to receive the remaining fund.
There are advantages and disadvantages with each retirement solution and it is therefore essential that as you approach retirement you research all of the retirement options that may be appropriate to your circumstances.
Investments
These will be separate from any pension related arrangements and will provide capital growth and/or income. These can include, but are not restricted to, the following:-
- Individual Savings Account (ISAs)
- Open Ended Investment Companies (OEICs)/Unit Trusts
- Insurance Investment Bonds
- Deposit Accounts
- National Savings
Whatever your needs S-Tech is able to offer you guidance in the above areas.
