Do your insurance policies work for you?

Whilst being a more common and familiar trade to the insurance world, there are still many limitations and exclusions which find their way on to Policies, and these could restrict or even exclude cover altogether.

Common examples we have come across include:-

• An 'Efficacy' exclusion from Product Liability cover. This would exclude claims involving the failure of the product to perform its intended function - Not much use if the product involved is a type of barrier or guard, or even a structural beam in a building.
• Exclusion of manual work away, or manual work away that involves the use of heat, even though this type of work is carried out.
• Work away has been restricted to exclude the type of location, or height, at which the Company normally works.
• A sub contractor insurance checking clause which has not been brought to the attention of the relevant people
• Restrictions on the type of industries where products may end up, such as motor, aviation, power generating, petro-chemical, off-shore, mines, quarries, railways, marine and so on.
